My husband and I gave legal notice to vacate and paid our last month's rent in addition to all the fees necessary to legally end our lease early on April 30th of this year. We gave our notice for May 31. We moved our belongings out on the 24th and came back and cleaned the heck out of the apartment on the 26th. We left the place spotless. The only damage beyond normal wear and tear was a hole in the bedroom wall where screws for our headboard hit the wall, which I patched up correctly. I emailed the landlady, JJ Duehren (aka Jeannine Duehren, aka JJ McKay) to give her our new address and ask how we would get our deposits back. She replied that she would send our deposits, along with an accounting of any damages no later than 30 days after the time we moved out. That was June 30th. It's now July 12, and I've not heard a thing, nor had a check arrive in the mail. I've sent a letter via certified mail giving her 14 days from the date of the letter to take care of this, or I will take her to small claims court. This is money I desperately need. It wouldn't take $670 to paint over a hole no bigger than a dollar bill. I've also got pictures that I took right after we cleaned the apartment to prove we left it clean, in addition to our notice and receipts of having paid the necessary fees and deposits.
