Probably the worst thing that could happen to a mother- just to balance the picture, she is  remarried a white man, the second time around. For Kurtis she was many steps up the ladder, but for her he was a step down. Of course that had nothing to do with it. 

 This is another black male who murdered a white actress because she didn't visit him in prison often enough
